Author Guidelines

Dear Authors, before submitting an article, we ask you to familiarize yourself with the content of the Publication Ethics. In order to improve the quality of published materials, all submitted works (scientific articles, messages, reviews, etc.) are reviewed and checked by the “Antiplagiat” system. Only original articles that have not been previously published and are not pending in other publications are accepted for consideration. The article submitted for publication should be relevant, have novelty, contain a statement of tasks (problems), a description of the main research results obtained by the author, conclusions. Articles are accepted in Russian and / or English. Materials for publication in English are submitted by foreign authors without translation in any part of them into Russian.

Requirements to the Formatting of the Scientific Article Submitted to the Siberian Law Review Journal

The manuscript of the scientific article (hereinafter referred to as the manuscript/ article) shall be submitted in electronic version, in the format supported by Microsoft Word 2007 or higher (doc, docx, rtf). The priority form of the Article submission is the filling of the form at our web-site https://www.siberianlawreview.ru/jour/author/submit/1.. The  manuscript of the article to be published with the license agreement (in duplicate) and the author’s request enclosed may also be sent to the editorial office’s e-mail (nauka@siblu.ru). 

The manuscript shall be accepted in Russian and English, hereby it should comply with the Journal’s profile and highlight the results of the original scientific research.

The total volume of the manuscript (all its structural elements) should be 20 pages of typewritten text, or approximately 40-45 thousand characters, including spaces.

For the text typing use Times New Roman font. Font size for the body of the Article –14 pt, footnotes — 12; footnote numbering – consecutive, page-by-page. Line spacing – 1.5.No hyphenation.

UDC Code before the text of the Article is mandatory.

The Article must include the following structural elements:

– Title of the Article;

– About the authors;

– Abstract;

– Key Words;

– Introduction;

– The body of the Article consisting of three or more sections each having its own title;

– Conclusion;

– Acknowledgements (to be included at the Author’s discretion);

– References (in Russian and English).

The titles of the structural elements (“Abstract”. “Key Words”. “Acknowledgements”, “Introduction”, “Conclusion”, “References”) must be stated in the text of the Article. The Article structural elements shall not be numbered.

Title of the Article (maximum 10 words) must contain the main key words. Shall be provided in Russian and English. Center-aligned in the top of the page.

About the Authors (in the next line, right-aligned, without abbreviations, in Russian and English): surname, given name, patronymic, position, affiliation (institution, city, country; the name of the institution must be the same as stated in the Charter), academic degree, academic rank, e-mail address, postal address (office, home), contact telephone number.

Authors must state their identifiers (ORCID iD, Researcher ID). If they have no identifiers the Authors should first sign in at: https://orcid.org.

The sequence of the enumeration of the authors is based on their contribution to the work completed. If the contribution to the research is equal the authors may be listed alphabetically.

Abstract (250–300 words) – independent source of information of the Article, brief characteristic of the Work, shall be provided in Russian and English. The Abstract must be logical and highlight the main contents of the Article (subject, objective, methods and conclusions of the study). The data contained in the title of the Article must not be repeated in the text of the Abstract. Avoid excessive introductory phrases, like “the author of the article reviews…”. Historical data (unless they are the main contents of the Article), description of the previously published works and commonly known provisions shall not be included into the Abstract. We recommend to make up the Abstract in accordance with the structure of the body of the Article selecting the most important data from each section to provide in aggregate the comprehensive idea of the contents of the Article.

The Abstract should be made up after the completion of the work on the Article. Special emphasis should be given to the quality of the translation. Preferably, a professional translator should be contracted to help eliminate possible grammar and/or spelling mistakes and bring the text in compliance with the correct scientific English language.

Key Words (5–10 words or word-combinations) should highlight the specific features of the topic, object and findings of the study. The Key words must be separated with a semi-colon.

Introduction shall include the substantiation of the topicality and novelty of the study, review of the literature on the study subject-matter, study problem setting, definition of the study hypothesis, description of the methods used to obtain the findings, definition of the study objectives and tasks.

The body (main part) of the Article consisting three or more sections, contains the actual findings of the study, interpretation thereof, including compliance of the findings obtained with the study hypothesis, limitations of the study and generalization of its outcomes, comparison with the findings of other researchers, proposals on the future practical application of the future studies.

Conclusion (contains the main ideas of the body of the Article, outcomes of the study without verbatim repetition of the definitions included in the body of the Article.

Acknowledgements. This structural element shall be included into the Article at the Author’s discretion to express appreciation to the colleagues for the help with the Article preparation, including critical comments which enabled the manuscript improvement, gratitude for the financial support of the study by people and institutions. It may also contain data of the grants, contracts, etc. used to fund the study.

References section shall contain references to all the scientific information sources mentioned in the text of the Article which will allow the readers to familiarize with them, make sure the data is reliable, learn about the previous studies / achievements on the topic of the Article, and the authors – to demonstrate the scope and depth of the study conducted.

The literature used for the Article writing shall highlight the present-day state of the problem and include publications in both Russian and international journals and editions. Please note, that the References List is an importation tool for the promotion of both scientific citation data and the author’s standpoint on the topic in question in the international bases.

The Reference list is provided at the end of the Article and made up in the order the sources are referred to in the text, not alphabetically, regardless of the original title and language, the listed references shall be numbered. One list item shall include only one information source.

The list of references shall be made up in accordance with GOST R 7.0.5–2008 Bibliographic reference. General requirements and rules of making and carefully checked.

The list of references must state the publishing house, total number of pages in the edition used, or specific pages containing the relevant materials if the edition is periodical. 

If the reference has a DOI it must be stated.

In the text of the Article references to the specific number of the bibliographic record from the list shall be provided in square brackets. If the reference to the information source in the text of the Article is made several times, the source number from the list shall be repeated in the square brackets (without any changes in the List of References itself). In case of direct citation the page number must be provided (for example: [1, с. 25], [1, с. 59–60]).

Recommended bibliography options:

– at least 10–12 sources, the author, if possible, has the right to include in them: foreign sources (articles from journals indexed in Web of Science, Scopus; works in English, German, French, published in scientific periodicals (not additional issues ), as well as articles in the proceedings of conferences and monographs published by publishing houses not seen in the use of unscrupulous publishing policies).

– maximum 15 % sources – monographs;

– references to the literature published before 2009 must be single, except studies containing historical aspect;

– avoid self-citation. If it is impossible to mention the previously published works, just mention in the Article that the Author has already reviewed this issue, in this case no references to the published works should be included into the list of references.

The following extrascientific information sources shall not be included into the list of references:

  • dissertations, author’s abstracts of the dissertations;
  • text books, workbooks;
  • statutes and regulatory acts, judicial acts;
  • rules, standards, patents;
  • dictionaries, encyclopedias, other reference books;
  • reports, statements, protocols, statistics data;
  • mass media, the Internet resources.

 

References to the extrascientific information sources above shall be provided in the footnotes.

The footnotes shall be made as notes to the text provided at the bottom of the page, consecutively numbered as per GOST R 7.0.5–2008 Bibliographic reference. General requirements and rules of making and carefully checked.

Translation of the References and Transliteration. The order of the sources shall match the Russian list of References. During the translation of the Russian sources we recommend to check for the availability of the official published translation. After the source description state the language of the edition, if it was published in Russian – (In Russ.).

Transliteration shall be applicable in the following cases:

– to provide the surname, given name and patronymic (if applicable) of the authors of the reference;

– for the proper names of the publishing houses, for example, Nauka, Yurlitinform;

– if the information of the use of the English title by the Journal it not available (check by the journal official web-site is recommended).

The transliteration shall be provided as per BSI standard. For the transliteration purposes automatic Internet services are recommended: https://antropophob.ru/utility-i-prochie-melochi/16-transliteratsiya-bsi; https://translit.net/ru/bsi/.

To prepare the list of references automatic systems for the preparation of the list of references may be used (EndNoteMendeleyZotero, etc.)

Formulae, figures, table. All the formulae, tables and figures must be numbered, and the figures and tables – also titled, there must be references to them in the body of the Article. The tables must not have blank columns. Simple inline and single-line formulae as well as figures and tables must be typed without using special editor software. Figures and formulae shall be attached to the Article as separate files in JPEG-format, resolution – min. 300 dpi.

In the Article elements above the following shall not be admissible:

– using Caps Lock
– bold font
– two or more consecutive blank spaces
– tabulation symbols
– paragraph indent using blank spaces and tabulation character
– soft hyphens
– sparse or condensed font.

If the Article does not comply with the requirements to the lineup and/or contents above the editorial board shall decline the Article and notify the author by e-mail.

The reliability of the data used in the texts shall be the authors’ responsibility.

The Editorial Board has the right to carry out technical, literary, scientific editing of scientific articles submitted to the Editorial Office of the journal. The authors are sent a draft of the article for review with the final version of the text of the article and its approval.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.

  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).

  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.

  7. I have read and agree with the terms of the license agreement.
